A subjective effort estimation experiment
نویسندگان
چکیده
Effort estimation is difficult in general, and in software development it becomes even more complicated if the software process is changed. In this paper a number of alternative interview-based effort estimation methods is presented. The main focus of the paper is to present an experiment in which software engineers were asked to use different methods to estimate the actual effort it would take to perform a number of tasks. The result from the subjective data is compared with the actual outcome from performing the tasks.

In the field of software project effort estimation, the need to apply dimensionality reduction and feature selection methods has become an inevitable demand. The high volumes of data, costs, and time necessary for gathering data , ...
متن کاملAn Improved COCOMO based Model to Estimate the Effort of Software Projects
One of important aspects of software projects is estimating the cost and time required to develop projects. Nowadays, this issue has become one of the key concerns of project managers. Accurate estimation of essential effort to produce and develop software is heavily effective on success or failure of software projects and it is highly regarded as a vital factor. Failure to achieve convincing a...
متن کاملCross- vs Within-Company Defect Prediction Studies
In a recent May 2007 IEEE TSE article, Kitchenham et.al. explored effort estimation and found contradictory evidence about the value of crossvs within-company data. Those contradictory results may have been the result of effort estimation features, some of which are subjective in nature. Static code features are different than effort estimation features. They can be generated in an automatic, r...
متن کاملJust Noticeable Difference Estimation Using Visual Saliency in Images
Due to some physiological and physical limitations in the brain and the eye, the human visual system (HVS) is unable to perceive some changes in the visual signal whose range is lower than a certain threshold so-called just-noticeable distortion (JND) threshold. Visual attention (VA) provides a mechanism for selection of particular aspects of a visual scene so as to reduce the computational loa...
